Before you start making your Rangoli on water or even on the ground, you should have your design ready in your mind. If you are drawing a Rangoli for the first time, try to keep it as simple as possible. If you go wrong with any stroke, the entire Rangoli may end up looking messy and unclean.

Although you can make your water Rangoli in a steel, plastic or any other bowl too, it is better to use a transparent glass bowl, as it will give a fantastic 3D effect to your creation.

Take one transparent bowl, and apply oil on it generously. Since this oil will not mix with the water that you pour in the bowl, it will prevent your Rangoli powders from messing up.

4

Draw your Rangoli design on this plate, and wait for some time, allowing the Rangoli powders to get completely absorbed in the oil. Here are some easy templates you can copy. You can easily learn to make Rangoli with dots, as it's one of the simplest designs.

Now, you can pour some more oil on the plate to make the powders wet. The oil should be poured slowly from the sides, so that it does not disturb the design you have made on the plate.

6

Place this bowl inside the bowl full of water. Don’t worry. Your Rangoli will stay as it is, as you have mixed oil in it, and it will not mix with water.
